    BRANDING AND DESIGN WORKSHOP APPOMATTOX CHAMBER OF COMMERCE + APX CREATIVE

    CLASS ONE: 9/05/17 CLIENT NEEDS Introduction of the Appomattox Chamber of Commerce and their needs as an organization.

    OPEN DISCUSSION As a class, we’ll explore workable solutions to the Chamber’s needs. We’ll also look at how similar organizations have accomplished this task.

    WHAT MAKES A BRAND? Branding is an exciting, everchanging space, which uses a mix of art and science to create a positive image for businesses, organizations, and individuals. Here you will learn the basics of branding and design.

    CLOSING At the close of our first session, you’ll be introduced to your work for the week, and resources available to aid you in the competition of that work.

    CLASS TWO: 9/12/17 UPDATES We will analyze each other’s homework and provide feedback on the work. You’ll also be able to update the class on different things you have seen or worked on within the space over the week.

    DESIGN INSPIRATION Design has become more than just graphics, here we will see several cases of good and bad design. After this section, you’ll be able to better identify good branding decisions.

    WHAT IS THIS ALL FOR? Every small business owner brands for a reason, to expand their business. In this section, we’ll look at the implementation and sustainment of branding strategies.

    CLOSING At the close of our second session, you’ll begin working on the client’s branding strategy using the Brand Guidelines Template.

    CLASS THREE: 9/19/17 DIGITAL BRANDING The internet fundamentally changed the way consumers interact with businesses. Here, you’ll be given an introduction into the world of digital branding and how to better leverage free tools online.

    DESIGN LAB During this section, we’ll design in class with help of your fellow students. We’ll share design concepts, inspiration, and provide feedback on different ideas. At the end of this section, you should have a solid foundation to prepare the final proposal.

    CLASS FOUR:9/26/17 DESIGN LAB At the beginning of class four, we’ll continue our Design Lab section to allow for additional group work, and to finalize the branding strategy. At the end of this section, Design Proposals will be finalized and ready to be presented to the client.

    PORTFOLIOS During this section, we will create online portfolio websites and upload your first work example, the completed design proposal!

    CONTINUED EDUCATION AND WORK Digital marketing and branding is a growing field with many professional opportunities. Here, you’ll learn best practices for landing work within this space.
