Patrick Henry’s Red Hill announces:

Community Open House to tour the newly constructed

Eugene B. Casey Education and Event Center

The Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation, the National Memorial to Patrick Henry, invites the public to come tour the newly constructed Eugene B. Casey Education and Event Center.

When: Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 11 am until 3 pm

Red Hill is picturesque and remains virtually untouched by the modern world. This 5,100 square foot building is beyond the historic area nestled in the tree line, yet steps away and easily accessible to all of the historic buildings and Henry’s grave. The peaceful vista adds to any educational experience, business meeting, wedding, book signing, art exhibit or any other special event.

Several weddings have been booked, a statewide conference conducted a forum in the new building in March, and several community organizations have had meetings at the center. Come see what all there is to offer!

The Casey Education and Event Center was built to allow Red Hill to grow school group visitation as well as adult tour groups. Annually over 20 school groups (serving over 2,000 children) and adult/senior groups (serving 200 plus adults) visit and tour Red Hill. Every so often these groups have to cancel or reschedule because of adverse weather conditions. The new education center lets these students and adults come to Red Hill, have a hands-on learning experience, and hear about Patrick Henry and 18th century life with no concerns regarding weather conditions. Because of this building we can extend the hands-on learning “season” as cold and heat will not be an issue inside of the building.

Our vision for the future is to ignite a revolution of interest in early American history through educating and connecting others with the role Patrick Henry played in this nation’s founding. We want to grow the educational possibilities here at Red Hill in order to benefit central Virginians as well as visitors from all over the nation. We want this beautiful historic site to offer lessons in local, state and national history.

For the past 75 years, Patrick Henry’s Red Hill has worked to keep the spirit of the Voice of the American Revolution alive. Red Hill was designated by Congress as the Patrick Henry National Memorial in 1986. Its mission is to inspire a better understanding of Colonial American history through its educational programs, scholarships to young adults, and the preservation and restoration of its 600 acres.
